Job Description

PNNL Coastal Division staff carry out research to support providing power at sea for a range of ocean observation and other offshore needs from marine energy devices (waves, tides, ocean currents, riverine energy). We are looking for a post-doc to support research into:

  • Compose use cases and functional requirements for a broad range of ocean observation technologies that could be powered by marine energy;

  • Help develop design specifications for advancing ocean/marine observation technologies;

  • Conduct outreach and gather end user feedback on ocean/marine observation technologies

  • Helping to enable the use of marine energy for maritime market applications;

  • Contributing to publications and research proposals, and

  • Mentoring junior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.

Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge and experience in ocean/marine observation technology. It is also desirable to have knowledge of and experience with marine energy technology, as well as field work experience including deployment and recovery of oceanographic equipment.

Master’s degree in oceanography, ocean engineering, marine affairs, or related field

3.5 GPA or higher is preferred
