Job Description

Two Post Master’s Research Associate positions are available in the Global Science, Technology, and Policy Division (GSTP). This Division works at the interface of science, technology, and policy to bring solutions to the global marketplace. GSTP is the leading source for national security solutions integrating nonproliferation policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, international capacity building, and technology. GSTP comprises a multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed team delivering innovative solutions to our sponsors’ national security challenges. Focus areas include:

Global Security Technology and Policy: Seeks candidates with background in the areas of Nonproliferation, Proliferation Finance, Sanctions, International Trade, and related topics.

  1. Policy/Technology candidates require an understanding of proliferation finance, international trade, export controls, and policies and regulations impacting and influencing the financing of the purchase of the components of weapons of mass destruction. Candidates will be asked to contribute research and programmatic support to GSTP programs. Candidates will contribute to both international programs that combat the financing of proliferation and other related topics depending on skillset.

Positions will be in Seattle, Washington or Richland, Washington based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.

U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Substantive academic study or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: nonproliferation, arms control, economics, quantitative analysis, supply chain theory, political science, public health, microbiology, biohazardous threat agents, anti-money laundering, counter proliferation finance, strategic planning, business administration, operations research, international policy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including cross-cultural communication

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Multidisciplinary curiosity and teaming capability

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Education/Credentials

  • Prior experience or publications in counterproliferation finance, financial crimes, international trade, export controls, or sanctions implementation Prior experience supporting foreign assistance programs

  • Experience with training course design

  • Project management experience

  • Regional expertise in one or more of the following regions: Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, Middle East, or Africa

  • Language proficiency desired in one or more of the following languages: Chinese, Korean, Arabic, French, Persian (Farsi)
