Job Description

The National Security Professional Leaders Internship team is looking for a Post Bachelors Research Associate to support Global Security Technology and Policy (GSTP) with a diverse compilation understanding and experience of emergency management, export control, border security and other national security related programs. Within this role, the Research Associate would be required to support day to day Project Management tasks including compiling, analyzing and managing photo and informational libraries and the development of communication products for a variety of internal and external stakeholders. The Research Associate will be expected to manage track and manage resources, capture and provide reporting on actions and next steps, and provide insights as to lessons learned through the process. Additionally, the Research Associate will be expected to conduct open source research and develop topical papers in the field of strategic trade control and border security.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required.

Preferred Qualifications

A preferred candidate will have some familiarity with or demonstrated interest in emergency management, export controls, border security and national security. Experience in the execution of Project Management tasks associated with emergency response, export control, border security and other national security activities is important as the project is ongoing. The candidate must be a self-starter and demonstrate great attention to detail; an ability to communicate complex project issues to a diverse mix of stakeholders, excellent writing, data compilation, and analysis skills. Any of the following areas of prior work or study or additional skills could be a benefit, though are not required:

  • international studies

  • global studies

  • emergency management

Preferred Education/Credential

The Research Associate must have completed a Bachelors’ degree or be completing a Bachelors’ degree within the next six months, in a national security related undergraduate program. The candidate should be familiar with basic project management concepts and have an interest in national and international security. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
