The Analyst/Linguist in national security should have the following attributes:
Possess technical proficiency and work experience in at least one of the foreign language(s) sought and demonstrate that development as documented through education, work experience, and publication history.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and utilize expertise in one or more languages to determine significance and reliability of incoming information, and integrate new information with current data to complement research needs of data scientists.
Knowledgeable and able to apply appropriate methods, tools, or technologies in areas including technical translation, publication, language training or curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement.
Proficient (reading, writing, and listening) in one or more foreign languages, including Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Somali, Persian Farsi, Korean, Turkish and other languages as missions and needs evolve
Professional experience contributing to strategic plans, supporting senior-decision making, preparing budget documents, and informing strategic messaging.
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience. Advanced degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. Certification may be preferred.
Active Federal security clearance (Q or TS), and ability to maintain such a clearance
Coursework, knowledge, or experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Quantitative/Statistical analysis; Data modeling or data science; Cyber security; Computer science; Engineering; Chemistry; Biology; Physics; Social network analysis; Metadata analysis; Research methodology; Curriculum development; Topical or Regional studies relevant to national security

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.
Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.
Drug Testing: All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 consecutive months can be demonstrated.
