Job Description

This posting is for two positions. Candidates will support biological sample processing and analysis capabilities in the Biological Sciences Facility (BSF) and the Environmental and Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL). This support will involve performing a variety of tasks that are important to ongoing research, examples of which may include preparation of solutions, disposal of waste, labeling of vials, maintenance of freezer space, parts cleaning and organization, laboratory cleanup, cleaning dishes, preparation of packed LC columns, etc. As a candidate becomes fully proficient with support tasks, opportunities may arise for direct involvement in project work based on the intern’s interests and abilities.

Intern must be local as this is a year round position.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be undergraduate degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5.

These positions are intended to provide a mutually beneficial arrangement where candidates will receive highly valuable experience working in a world class laboratory while staff will benefit from having more time to focus on advanced tasks and project work. Staff will rely heavily on the candidate to be responsible and to perform assigned tasks in a correct and efficient manner. As a result, past work history, volunteer activities, notable achievements/honors, and letters of recommendation will all be seriously considered as part of the selection process for this position.

Preferred GPA 3.0 or higher.
