This is an opportunity to be part of an internationally recognized, interdisciplinary research program that is advancing the state of the art in metals manufacturing for a variety of technology applications and markets. Our research ranges from understanding the physics of microstructural evolution in materials to the application of this knowledge to develop scalable manufacturing platforms that can deliver materials and components with exceptional performance while using less energy. We are particularly focused on processes that create high strain conditions during synthesis – conditions that are inherent to SPP methods.

This position will work with SPP technologies: friction stir, shear-assisted processing and extrusion (ShAPE), and/or cold spray. The candidate will lead research teams and develop and propose new ideas. He or she will provide technical direction to research projects, collaborate broadly with highly diverse research teams, manage project execution, and mentor junior staff. The position holder will participate in the larger technical community by authoring manuscripts for publication and presenting at (and organizing sessions at) national meetings.
