Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Environmental Assessment and Engineering Group is seeking a candidate with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the identification, analysis, and implementation of natural resource and environmental laws for our federal partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience leading integrated, multi-disciplinary teams of scientists and engineers addressing the implementation of natural resource and environmental laws and regulations; complex stakeholder elicitation and engagement strategies; and the identification and analysis of opportunities and risks related to the execution of project/programmatic plans. The successful candidate must demonstrate attributes of being self-motivated and self-directed, possess excellent written and oral communications skills, and have experience in preparing, reviewing, and presenting the results of complex technical reports and recommendations to sponsors, stakeholders, and project/program management.

This position is intended to start at salaried less than full time (<40 hr/wk), but can move to salaried full time contingent on project scope and needs.

The incumbent will work under the guidance of Sector/Program Managers, staff scientists/engineers, and project managers, and will be accountable for performing the following tasks:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical direction for the implementation of environmental laws.

  • Manage technical products to assure that they are delivered with the required level of quality, timeliness, and cost to meet or exceed project, program, and sponsor expectations.

  • Lead or contribute to technical proposals, project reports, and scientific and technical products.

  • Contribute to the development and growth of new opportunities, capabilities, and staff for project and program teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 8+ years of relevant experience

  • MS/MA with 6+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree specializing in Environmental Law

  • Effective leadership of interdisciplinary teams on multiple environmental compliance related projects and tasks.

  • Experience managing complex, impactful, multi-stakeholder projects.
