Senior Architect to contribute to PNNL’s ongoing projects and Campus Development.
This position is responsible for providing Architectural expertise including studies, preliminary, conceptual and detailed design, calculations, troubleshooting, preparation of contract documents including drawings and specifications, construction oversight, and field inspections for all Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) facilities. This position applies discipline specific knowledge and methods for the accomplishment of Architectural work assigned to the Engineering Department, which will also include research and development support.
Has an established technical expertise, serves as a resource to F&O and the Lab.
Manages technically complex activities and projects.
Routinely functions as a lead project engineer, coordinating and managing the activities of other staff.
Provides direction to junior staff, designers, and drafters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or architecture and 10+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Advanced Sketch-up and/or rendering software program skills
Strong design and graphic skills; ability to communicate ideas to others graphically
Successfully interface with clients, vendors, construction, and craft personnel
5 years of design experience with a commercial/institutional architectural firm or A/E firm preparing construction contract documents
3 years of experience in laboratory planning
Experience with institutional research laboratory facility layout and design
Experience leading multi-discipline project teams
AutoCAD or REVIT design and drafting skills, MS Office Software skills
Demonstrable ability to work independently
High level of technical expertise with the full range of building envelope, structural and MEP systems
Expertise in applying the IBC and NFPA 101 along with familiarity with NFPA 45
LEED or equivalent DOE High Performance Sustainable Building Standard experience
Architectural experience at PNNL (or other DOE Office of Science Research Institute)
