The EMSL Management and Operations group supports the day to day operations of EMSL’s User Program as well as facilitates operational execution of the science and technology future strategy for the EMSL User Program. The User Program Services (UPS) team works under the direction of the Deputy of User Services (DoUS), who reports to the Deputy of Technical Management and is responsible for providing world-class customer service that enables access to EMSL’s Integrated Research Platforms. The UPS team is responsible for the execution of the User Services strategy, including clear and transparent proposal calls and peer review; timely decision and notifications to the researchers; accurate and responsive data collection and reporting through a suite of software tools; efficient and seamless project management of the approved user projects; and serves as a critical support function in establishing and growing the EMSL User Program’s external network of scientific partners. This position will serve as a project manager for user projects within the UPS team.
Responsible for coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of assigned User projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals.
Responsible for oversight of User project's performance and quality throughout its life cycle.
Manage resources needed for execution of User projects
Serve as a role model for quality, safety, and security performance. Maintain an understanding of the activities and work scope executed by the team, understand its impact on the non-staff research community, and monitor changes to ensure work being conducted remains as authorized.
Oversees the management of user projects annually to ensure efficient and seamless interactions tween the PI and the science and technology expertise resident in EMSL. Manages the activities and services that govern access to EMSL
Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of experience or advanced degree plus 4 years of experience.
3 or more years of experience relevant to task leadership and/or project management and depth of knowledge in science and/or methods needed to deliver project.
Advanced Degree in relevant area of science (biology, chemistry, etc.).
Graduate of PMDP; PMP certification or demonstrated equivalent (knowledge competency criteria) encouraged.
