Job Description

We are looking for motivated individuals interested in developing innovative project controls solutions tailored to a diverse set of projects. The staff member will work with project managers and teams to develop, implement, and maintain project controls systems such as planning, scheduling, reporting, and performance measurement. The selected staff member will:

  • Prepare proposals to deliver breakthrough science and technology to meet key national needs

  • Develop detailed project controls plans, statements of work, and other project planning documents

  • Construct time-phased budgets, work schedules, work breakdown structures, and control account plans

  • Create project workflows (e.g, Gantt charts, PERT, and CPM network diagrams)

  • Familiarize, learn, and apply knowledge of applicable PNNL policies, procedures, and customer expectations

  • Work simultaneously on different projects or with multiple customers

The staff member in this early-career position initially is in training and receives assigned work and mentoring from more senior staff. With more experience, the staff member works more independently with guidance from more senior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 0 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to project management concepts, terminology, and methodologies; knowledge of general business administration

  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills

  • Familiarity with planning and management systems, including planning software (i.e., Primavera, Microsoft Project)

  • Coursework in management information systems and databases (e.g. SQL, Access, and Visual Basic)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office software products such as Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Emphasis in Management Information Systems (MIS), Operations Management, Project Management or Finance degree programs

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

  • Drug Testing: All Security Clearance (L or Q) positions will be considered by the Department of Energy to be Testing Designated Positions which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 consecutive months can be demonstrated.
