Research Computing advances scientific discovery by providing researchers computational tools to accelerate their research outcomes. We support computationally enabled science by providing researchers access to computational building blocks (e.g., Power Apps, SharePoint Online, Machine Learning environments, Data Management Tools etc.), provide services, expertise and support to researchers to optimize their use of our capabilities (e.g., Consulting, App Development, etc.), all while fostering a culture of computing through interdisciplinary collaboration and access to computational resources.
We are seeking a proven PowerApps (PA) Developer to join our software platforms team. In this role, you will accelerate the work with numerous teams across the research community by developing effective and visually appealing PA canvas and model driven applications. You will be responsible for the full development from requirements gathering, process mapping, backend database integration, and front-end development, testing and deployment. Experience with React development and building custom reusable components to import into Power Apps is a plus.
To do this you will leverage standard and custom Office 365/Azure components, and PA connectors to interact with other O365 applications, custom API’s, and databases. You will offer suggestions to simplify work processes and will leverage innovative approaches to develop complete applications. You will have experience in integrating Power BI dashboards into PowerApps and incorporating particular visual elements and branding requirements. You will have a working knowledge of the O365 suite, including SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, and the Graph API.
You will be responsible for managing your delivery and relationships with your customers within the Lab, and so will exhibit strong project discipline and communications skills. Additionally, you will be adept at managing within an Agile methodology and ensure your customers are regularly informed of progress and engaged in the development process.
Additional responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the SharePoint and other development teams across the Lab
Demonstrating strong cross functional knowledge and adept at working with various teams including Information Security and IT Operations teams
The hiring level will be determined based on the education, experience and skill set of the successful candidate based on the following:
Level II: Leads specific tasks of the project to meet scope, schedule and budget. Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies. Contributes technical content to proposals and develops business through excellent project performance
Level III: Manages small to moderate projects and/or major project tasks. Integrates intellectual and technical capabilities of work teams. Enhances technical/professional skills of junior staff through active mentoring and training. Generates ideas for new proposals and participates in business development activities
BS/BA with 2 years of experience, or MS/MA with 0-2 years of experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience, or Relevant Associate’s degree and 6 years of relevant work experience, or High school diploma and 10 years of relevant work experience
Experience in developing PowerApps with custom front ends
Experience developing solutions that span multiple Office365 services (e.g., SharePoint, Power Automate, Teams, Outlook, Graph API, One Note, One Drive, Power BI, etc.)
BS/BA in a relevant field with 5 years of experience, or MS/MA with 3 years of experience, or PhD with 1 year of experience.
Experience with PowerApps integration with Azure API Apps, Azure Logic apps, Azure Functions and REST services.
Experience with SQL Database design and queries
Experience with React Development
