Job Description

The candidate for this position will actively participate in interdisciplinary projects to study the environmental impact of renewable energy systems such as conventional hydropower, marine and hydrokinetic energy, and wind power. includes experimental design, digital signal acquisition in laboratory and field settings, data processing and analysis, and assisting with journal article and report writing.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Master in mechanical engineering, civil or environmental engineering, physical oceanography, or a related field.

The candidate must have demonstrated experience with digital signal acquisition and processing, surface water instrumentation and data acquisition, or acoustic instrument and measurements. The candidate must have experience with analysis and visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB; Tecplot; Excel). In addition, the successful candidate will be able to work well in a team setting; will exhibit a strong work ethic; will be self-motivated; and will place a high value on data quality and accuracy.

Experience with autonomous vehicles for underwater, surface, and aerial measurements related to the environment and animal life is preferred.

Knowledge of underwater acoustic or hydroacoustics and good publication record will be a plus.

3.50 GPA or higher preferred.
