The Battery Materials and Systems Group at Pacific Northwest National Lab seeks a Postmaster to conduct research focusing on the production and development of micro battery. The micro battery is a primary battery with lithium metal and carbon monofluoride as active materials. The micro battery will be used to power the miniature acoustic or RF sensors which are implanted to animals to understand how human activities affect their living environments. In this position, the candidate is expected to
Assist the production of the micro battery during the production season .
Develop new micro battery with the requirements from the clients.
Improve the reliability and energy density of the micro battery.
Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.
Degree in Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials science, or related field.
Be familiar with battery assembly.
Work experience or experience with internship in battery systems is a plus.
A passion for learning and innovation, and a desire to advance the micro battery through improvements in reliability and energy density.
A collaborative approach to problem-solving and the ability to work well with inter-disciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
3.2 GPA or higher is preferred
