This is a position in the Ecology Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). The successful candidate will participate in various research projects that focus on the use of hard part geochemistry to determine origins, characterize movement, and reconstruct environmental life history of fish species within and potentially outside the region. Applicants should have a strong background in fish ecology and behavior, and familiarity with isotope mass spectrometry. Responsibilities include lab work to prepare samples for analysis, operation of analytical equipment, data processing and analysis, and report writing.
Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.
The candidate will have a master’s degree in biology or a fisheries related field. Knowledge of fish ecology, geochemistry, and mass spectrometry are desirable, as well as experience with laboratory techniques for sample preparation of otoliths, fin rays, and scales. Experience with managing data (MS Excel), statistical software, and writing are desirable but not required. The ability to work well both independently and in a team setting is necessary.
Master’s degree in fisheries, environmental sciences, or biology-related field.
3.25 GPA or higher is preferred
