Job Description

This position will focus on analysis of complex mixtures of small organic molecules & metabolites as encountered in biological extracts and environmental samples (e.g. soils). The successful candidate will participate in metabolomics research, including sample preparation, NMR experiments (1D 1H, 13C, 2D COSY, HSQC, NOESY, etc), data processing and analysis, and writing up results for publication in technical journals. The position is highly suitable for motivated individuals who would like to broaden their scientific knowledge base by working on a variety of projects utilizing metabolomics methods, or to deepen their knowledge of metabolomics methods in specific areas (e.g. plant, microorganism, soils).

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidate must have a PhD degree in chemistry or biochemistry with significant experience utilizing NMR methods to identify small molecules of biological relevance. Experience working with databases and statistical analysis methods is highly desirable, as is experience with mass spectrometry methods relevant to metabolomics. The ability to be flexible, to work independently, and to interact with a wide variety of technical and non-technical people is necessary for success in this position.
