Job Description

The Integrative Omics group within the Biological Sciences Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking highly motivated candidates for multiple postdoctoral positions focusing on mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomics method development and applications in the context of biomedical or environmental applications. The research areas include the development, optimization, and applications of quantitative methodologies for protein posttranslational modifications (e.g., protein thiol-based redox modifications), and the development and applications of targeted mass spectrometry-based assays towards clinical and translational applications in metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. The Integrative Omics group also presents a diverse array of opportunities ranging from analytical biochemistry, mass spec instrumentation, multi-omics measurements, single cell proteomics, bioinformatics, and many environmental and biomedical applications. The candidates are anticipated to work with a multi-disciplinary team and to have the flexibility in working on multiple projects. The preferred candidate would have a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, or clinical chemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or closely related fields. Although not required, hands-on experience in mass spectrometry, proteomics, LC separations, posttranslational modifications, and data analysis will be considered as a plus. Efforts will include biochemical methods development, LC-MS method developments, method optimization or assay optimization, various applications, as well as LC-MS analysis, and data interpretation of global and targeted quantitative proteomic measurements in different sample types. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, be self-motivated, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will assist, and possibly lead, in the preparation and presentation of papers, posters, reports, etc. Additionally, he/she will use project management systems at PNNL, maintain an accurate laboratory notebook, adhere to Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) Operations, and follow security requirements as well as directorate/group policies.
