Contribute to PNNL’s goals in experimental chemical physics as part of the Lab’s Physical Sciences Division (PSD). As a postdoctoral researcher in the Chemical Physics and Analysis group, you will join a multi-investigator team to develop novel nonlinear optical microscopy approaches ( e.g., interferometric/time domain coherent anti-Stokes Raman). You will be mentored by active researchers in the field (Dr. Patrick El-Khoury) as you develop a new experimental platform, working to advance novel nonlinear optical imaging technologies that may be used to visualize biological systems non-invasively with unprecedented detail.

What you will do:
Work independently, take initiative, and work on team assignments.
Lead manuscript development and maintain a strong overall publication record in the peer-reviewed scientific literature.
Present research at technical conferences and project/program review meetings.
Participate in the development of research proposals.

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Ph.D. in chemical physics/physical chemistry or closely related field with emphasis on optics, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
Hands-on experience in building optical setups for (nonlinear) spectroscopy, microscopy, and their combination.
Hands-on experience with ultrafast lasers (high repetition rate), optical microscopes (both home-built and commercial).
Experience in developing control software ( e.g., LabView).
Experience in ultrasensitive and lock-in detection.
Experience in handling biological specimens desirable but not required.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Training and aptitude in experimental microscopy, and spectroscopy.
Work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
