Job Description

The Detection Systems Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks candidates with experience in nanoparticle synthesis, and/or chemical process scale-up.

  • Development and execution of multi core/shell nanoparticle synthesis and process scale up.

  • Nanoparticle electronic and optical modeling.

  • Laboratory production of nanoparticle devices.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have experience in areas of wet chemistry, materials science, or semiconductors. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Nanoparticle/quantum dot synthesis

  • Scale-up of chemical processes

Desirable Qualifications

  • Additional familiarity in areas of geochemistry and porous media

  • Experience with gas and/or vacuum systems

  • Programming (e.g. proficiency in Python, R, Fortran, C++)

  • Sensitivity and uncertainty analysis

Preferred Education/Credential

Ph.D. in Materials Science/Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering; will also consider candidates possessing Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field with demonstrated experience in wet chemistry techniques. Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred.
