Job Description

We are searching for a postdoctoral research associate to participate in a rapidly developing research program in lung biology. Projects are centered on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying normal and disrupted lung development and on understanding the molecular effects of e-cig aerosol exposure on the lung. The position offers outstanding opportunities for cross training in cutting edge proteomics and metabolomics/lipidomics technologies applied to the lung.

The Research Associate should have an interest and research experience in cellular/ molecular biology and bioinformatics. Candidates applying should be proficient in the operations of human and animal research laboratories, including but not limited to the following functions: lab animal husbandry/mouse model work, gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, immunoprecipitation, cDNA synthesis, western blot, bacterial cloning, microscopy, multiparameter flow cytometry, RNA isolation, and RT-PCR.

In addition to bench research, the postdoctoral research associate will be actively involved with data analysis, writing scientific papers and grant proposals, and presenting data at scientific meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD in molecular genetics, cellular or molecular biology, biological chemistry or related discipline. Candidates applying should be proficient in the operations of human and animal research laboratories, including but not limited to the following functions: lab animal husbandry/mouse model work, gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, immunoprecipitation, cDNA synthesis, western blot, bacterial cloning, microscopy, multiparameter flow cytometry, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, and RNA sequencing on Illumina or Affymetrix platforms.

Experience in high throughput omics data analysis (including single cell sequencing data) and bioinformatics is a plus.

The candidate should possess good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, think critically, operate productively in a fast-paced environment are required.
