Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Post Doctorate RA - General Neuroproteomics in RICHLAND, Washington

Organization and Job ID

Job ID: 311267

Directorate: Earth & Biological Sciences

Division: Biological Sciences

Group: Integrative Omics

Job Description

A few post-doctoral positions available in Integrative Omics group at PNNL for collaborative project involving Columbia University, Vanderbilt University and Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center.

The successful applicants will be immersed into application of proteomics to the research of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and associated pathologies affecting cognition. There is a number of projects to choose from. One project involves profiling post-translational modifications across human brain samples of subjects with AD and controls. The objective of this project is to refine our understanding of the pathologic mechanism and potentially develop drug targets. Another project focuses on validation of nominated drug targets by large-scale (>1,000 samples) quantitative targeted proteomics (SRM) analysis. The highly quantitative data jointly with rich clinical data enables inference of the role of individual proteins in neurodegeneration by advanced statistical modeling techniques. Third project focuses on small-scale analysis of microglia samples enriched from post-mortem human brains using FACS technique. Finally, forth project aims at development of a method for estimating age and turnover of the beta-amyloid plaques using advanced ion mobility separation technique.

These post-doctoral positions provide opportunities to learn a variety of proteomics techniques, the cutting-edge developments in AD research and statistical analysis of omics and clinical data. The latest research along these directions can be learned from the following publications:
