Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is searching for a computational chemist/materials scientist to assume a postdoctoral role in a project centered around the integration of measurement, modeling and data science for the treatment of the time-evolution of chemical systems.

The application areas include the capture of molecular species on sorbent surfaces and the elucidation of polymer ageing mechanisms in additively-manufactured components.

The successful candidate will receive dedicated training and mentorship as part of a laboratory-level initiative and will have the opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team integrating modelling techniques at multiple scales with measurement and data science methods.

The ability to multitask and work both independently and in a team environment is essential. A demonstrated ability to analyze data and publish results is also required.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

U.S. citizenship required.

  • demonstrated experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific conferences

  • excellent problem solving and data analysis skills

  • strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively on diverse teams

  • demonstrated technical aptitude in computational chemistry/materials science

Preferred Education

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in computational chemistry/materials or related field. Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher preferred.
