Job Description

The Energy Processes & Materials Group within the Energy and Environment Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is currently seeking an outstanding scientist for a postdoctoral position on battery development. The successful candidate’s primary working scope will be developing new battery materials/structures and testing the materials in coin cells or redox flow cells. General knowledge of materials science and electrochemistry and hands-on experience with battery material synthesis, cell fabrication and testing are required. The candidate needs to have the ability to performance in-depth research independently and collaborate effectively in a team. The work also involves preparing manuscripts for publication and presenting their work internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

Must possess Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other related fields within the past five years from an accredited college or university. Must have good written and oral communication skills and an ability to conduct collaborative research effectively on a teaming environment. Expertise in material synthesis, battery assembly, and electrochemical evaluation skills for Li-/Na-ion batteries or redox flow batteries is desired. Must be safety orientated.

3.5 GPA or higher is preferred
