Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate with a strong background and combination of coursework and knowledge in natural resources and ecosystems research with demonstrated capabilities in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem characterization, quantification of ecosystem services using natural process models under climate change and other disturbances, and spatial/temporal analyses. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated familiarity with domain-specific data, analyses, and tools applicable to environmental assessment and habitat characterization; and the ability to interpret and/or translate State and Federal environmental policies and regulations for stakeholder applications (e.g., ecosystem services as applied to land-use planning, species migration, habitat restoration).
Work scope will be primarily conducted in PNNL facilities and may include field visits/travel as required. The successful candidate will be comfortable working and collaborating with a diverse set of research staff on project tasks, and possess the appropriate analytic, task management, and communication skills (both oral and written) to clearly articulate the objectives and outcomes of their research.
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
The incumbent will work under the guidance of senior scientists and engineers, and will be responsible for performing the following technical tasks with the level of quality, timeliness, and cost, to meet required project and client expectations:
Contribute to or lead development of scientific and engineered solutions to assess or solve a variety of environmental problems.
Contribute to or lead technical decisions and develop technical approaches for assigned work.
Contribute to or lead technical proposals, project reports, and journal papers as requested.
Contribute to or lead in the growth of new business development opportunities and capabilities for project teams and the group.
Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating:
Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
History of peer-reviewed publications.
Significant experience with ecosystem services, development of natural process or ecosystem models, and trade-off analysis research.
Experience with statistical analysis methods and tools.
