Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking a post-bachelor research associate to support projects relating to waste vitrification. The research associate will work with senior research scientists to study various aspects of vitrifying nuclear waste. Focus will be on technetium retention in the glass and studying the phases that form upon heating a waste feed to high temperatures to form a glass. The researcher will perform laboratory work to prepare samples and characterize results. They will also be guided through data interpretation, presentation and documentation of the work.
Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Must have hands on experience in a laboratory setting.
Bachelor Degree in Materials Science, Geology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
3.0 GPA or higher is preferred
