The candidate for this position will actively participate in interdisciplinary projects to study the environmental impact of renewable energy systems such as conventional hydropower, marine and hydrokinetic energy, and wind power. Job responsibility include autonomous sensor design, autonomous sensor plan platform design, energy harvesting devices for sensor platforms, self-powered sensor design, experimental design, digital signal acquisition in laboratory and field settings, data processing and analysis, and assisting with journal article and report writing.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited college.
The candidate must have demonstrated experience with digital signal acquisition and processing, surface water instrumentation and data acquisition, or acoustic instrument and measurements. The candidate must have experience with analysis and visualization tools (e.g., MATLAB; Tecplot; Excel). In addition, the successful candidate will be able to work well in a team setting; will exhibit a strong work ethic; will be self-motivated; and will place a high value on data quality and accuracy.
Knowledge of underwater acoustic or hydroacoustics and good publication record will be a plus.
Candidates must be currently enrolled/matriculated in a PhD program at an accredited college. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program focusing on mechanical engineering, or a related field. 3.5 GPA or higher is preferred.
Extensive knowledge and experience in development of energy-harvesting devices (e.g., wave, thermal, mechanical, piezoelectric, etc.)
