Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is looking for an experienced Mobile Game Developer to join our cross-functional teams, creating multi-platform mobile applications for national security and energy stakeholders. This strong communicator would work with software developers, subject matter experts, and artists to create novel mobile experiences for applications such as education, training, and simulation that can run on a variety of devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background creating mobile applications for platforms like – but not limited to – Android and iOS, with multiple shipped titles, a thorough understanding of individual mobile platforms and their limitations, and project management experience in regard to game development. Mobile game developers with experience developing for Web and a familiarity with VR/AR is a plus. Candidates must present an online portfolio or app store links to relevant game development experience for consideration.
Work with lead developers to drive game development for mobile platforms
Write scripts and major gameplay systems for mobile applications
Help drive framerate and memory optimization of the software
Work with UX designers to ensure feature interfaces are user-friendly
Work with artists to make sure art assets meet the needs of the platform.
Manage mobile development by creating and assigning tasks to team members, bridging art and tech, and delivering on sponsor visions.
Mentoring junior staff and interns

Level II: Leads specific tasks of the project to meet scope, schedule and budget. Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies. Contributes technical content to proposals and develops business through excellent project performance.
Level III: Established reputation in applying software engineering principles towards mobile game development. Builds and leads effective project teams across domains. Organiational contributions through mentorship or taking on special assignments. Selects and develops technical approaches on complex problems. Lead of projects or tasks, integrating capabilities of work team members. Generates new ideas for proposals and/or business development opportunities, leading development of proposals or project plans.

BS/BA with 5 years of experience, MS/MA with 3 years of experience, PhD with 1 year of experience
5+ years of game development experience for Android and iOS.
You have a strong portfolio that speaks to your role and impact on the products you’ve touched.
In-depth knowledge of user centered design processes and methodology, particularly as it applies to mobile applications and games.
High-Level working knowledge of game development, particularly designing for mobile hardware, programming for games, code optimizations, and hardware limitations.
Experience developing content for multiple device form factors: Tablet, Phone, Chromebook, etc.
Experience using profilers and optimizing applications for a variety of devices and distribution platforms.
Comfortable with taking ambiguous concepts and adapting them to take full advantage of mobile hardware.
Experience deploying apps on a variety of distribution platforms
Proven ability developing mobile applications in each, Unity, Android Studio, and iOS
Experience developing applications for Web (HTML5 or WebGL) is a plus.
Experience developing applications for VR/AR is a plus.
Familiarity with creating game art assets or how to optimize art assets is a plus.
Familiarity with art authoring software such as: Maya, Substance, Photoshop, and others, is a plus.
Proven experience leading teams, creating and assigning tasks, and hitting project deadlines
Experience using source control software such as Git/Sourcetree.
Experience using task management software such as JIRA.
Wildly creative and obsessively meticulous
