Job Description
The Optimization and Control Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks an M.Sc. intern to support research activities focused on building energy analysis. In order to contribute to these research efforts, a successful candidate would have previous experience of using spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel, a strong interest in data analysis, and have a good understanding of building physics such as heat and mass transfer. The candidate is expected to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary research and development teams including researchers within and outside PNNL.
Strong knowledge and experience using spreadheets for data analysis
Understanding of building physics
Some knowledge of HVAC systems and building controls
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively in a team
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university. Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline such as engineering, physics, computer science or related field
M.Sc. student in scientific program with classes related to heat transfer, physics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics
