Job Description

The Integrative Omics research group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has an exciting scientist position available for a talented scientist to be part of the development and implementation of advanced mass spectrometry instrumentation to be applied to proteomics and metabolomics capabilities. This position involves collaborating with a team of scientists to develop automated methods and advanced technologies for metabolomics research. Efforts are likely to include the development and application of advanced ion mobility mass spectrometry technologies such as Structures for Lossless Ion Manipulations (SLIM) for the identification and quantification of metabolites from small samples of biological tissues, cells, and fluids. The candidate is expected to develop multi-dimensional gas phase separation instrumentation and methods, interfaces to be integrate to the ion mobility spectrometer that provide greatly improved separation peak capacity, limit of detection, and dynamic range to address previously intractable biological applications. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that wants to do great science with an ability to work in large multidisciplinary teams and to support projects requiring her/his expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 2 years of experience; MS/MA with 0 years of experience; PhD with 0 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD with 2 or more years of experience in developing and applying new technologies in the field of mass spectrometry or ancillary approaches.

  • Understands of fundamentals of gas phase ion chemistry.

  • Utilized ion mobility or mass spectrometry-based approaches in proteomics, metabolomics or related research areas.

  • Strong publication record.

  • Independent, self-initiative, ability to articulate ideas clearly and experience working within multidisciplinary team.
