Who we are:

  • Research Computing advances scientific discovery by providing computational tools and expertise to accelerate and demonstrate research outcomes. We support computationally enabled science by providing computational building blocks (e.g., HPC, Machine Learning environments, Data Management Tools etc.). In addition, we provide services, expertise, and support to researchers to optimize their use of our capabilities (e.g., UX, Software Engineering, HPC Consulting, Cloud Deployment, etc.). Lastly fostering a culture of computing through interdisciplinary collaboration, community building, and access to computational resources.

  • You have strong and demonstrable visual, interaction and graphic design skills.

  • You have a design portfolio that showcases your work.

The hiring level will be determined based on the education, experience and skill set of the successful candidate based on the following:

Level I: Applies basic S&E theories to well defined tasks with minimal oversight. Working locally as an individual contributor. Receives instruction on required tasks and reports results on time and on budget, while working under guidance from experienced staff. Work is conducted with a high standard of quality, safety, and security. Contributes to technical products such as: Topical Reports, Peer-reviewed Publications, patents/intellectual property, Software/Data Artifacts, Hardware/Materials/ Electronics Artifacts

Level II: Leads specific tasks of the project to meet scope, schedule, and budget. Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools, and technologies. Contributes technical content to proposals and develops business through excellent project performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 0-1 years of experience, MS/MA with 0 years of experience, Relevant Associates degree and 4 years of relevant work experience, High school diploma and 8 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA with 2 years of experience, MS/MA with 0-2 years of experience, PhD with 0 years of experience, Relevant Associates degree and 6 years of relevant work experience, High school diploma and 10 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with User Research and Analysis, Ideation, Concept and Detailed Visual Design, Rapid Prototyping, Production, Development & Measurement, and Product Launch

  • Experience working and influencing teams of software engineers

  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Figma, Sketch, and XD etc.

  • Experience working creatively within brand guidelines
