Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) Research Computing Division is seeking an IT engineer with a broad background to support the National Security Directorate (NSD) in our projects related to radiation portal monitor (RPM) detection technologies as a support engineer.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field of study and 2+ years of experience (or Master’s degree with 0+ years of experience)

Possess a high level of initiative and demonstrate skills as a proactive problem solver. Possess or ability to acquire DHS and DOE security credential (DHS Background Investigation required)

Outstanding technical judgement · Ability to work independently · Outstanding customer service and customer interaction skills

Technical competence in: o Computer OS – Building systems from ground up (Windows 10, Windows Server, Linux) including resolving issues such as RAID, drivers, etc. o OS level networking – Assign IPs (static, DHCP), verify working, check DNS, etc. o Basic network acumen – Understand VLANs and IP addressing

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated technical abilities with integrated hardware/software systems, including basic/intermediate IT troubleshooting skills, are strongly preferred.

· Ability to become Subject Matter Expert in radiation portal monitoring specific software/hardware

· Technical competence in:

o Manage VMs – Build VMs on both windows Hyper-V and VMware from ground up, manage hardware, manage software, copy, configure

o Software – Install, configure, troubleshoot

o Domain administration – Group Policy, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS

o WSUS Server administration

o Network administration – Programming switches, changing VLANS, etc. o Scripting – Batch files, etc. to automate tasks

o SQL – Limited, creating, editing SQL scripts to automate tasks

o WiFi – Configuring wireless devices, setting up small networks, connecting to LTE, etc.

o Nessus scanning and reporting o Linux installation and maintenance
