Job Description

Analyzes, installs, integrates, modifies, and supports all associated systems, networks, software, and databases. Plans and conducts projects after analysis of functional and operational requirements. May consult with and lead cross-functional teams.

Research Computing advances scientific discovery by providing research staff with the resources required to accelerate their research outcomes. We support computationally enabled science by providing researchers access to computational building blocks (e.g., HPC, Machine Learning environments, Data Management Tools etc.), provide services, expertise and support to researchers in areas outside their area of expertise and to optimize their use of our capabilities (e.g., HPC Consulting, Cloud Migration Support, etc.), all while fostering a culture of computing through interdisciplinary collaboration and access to computational resources.

As an IT Engineer you will offer premier IT support services to our customers and researchers. This position is about providing outstanding customer service by enabling the use of leading-edge technical solutions for research and operations staff. You will be located in one of our TechDesk locations, front and center with the teams of scientists and engineers who you are supporting. You will also:

  • Advise on the best application of technology solutions

  • Install system software and periodicupgrades

  • Troubleshoot a broad variety of technicalissues

  • Your key responsibilities and accountabilities would include:

  • Troubleshooting, researching, and resolving complex technical issues

  • Proactively identifying novel technologies that will enhance computational capabilities at the lab

  • Install and maintain hardware/software systems

  • Provide immediate support for conference room systems

  • Provide technical support on an as needed basis for a variety of projects

  • Provides support for Mac, Windows PC, Lenox/Unix, Android, and iOS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 0-1 years of experience, Master's degree with 0-1 years of experience, or minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of TCP/IPnetworking

Demonstrated experience in managing enterprise desktop and mobile device environment

Expertise in principles and concepts of customer service andsupport

Basic scripting expertise, e.g. Python orPowerShell

Experience installing and troubleshooting operating systems, device drivers, and softwareapplications
