The PNNL Infrastructure and Operations Division is seeking a manager for their Infrastructure Applications group. This leader will provide people management and technical execution responsibilities for a team of IT Engineers and subject matter experts. The successful candidate will be an experienced people manager with technical experience in web hosting, collaboration tools, enterprise databases, and other middleware applications in on/off-premise environments. A background in software engineering is important as we begin our journey in automating the management of our middleware applications, integrating with a robust container strategy and supporting the development and production needs of our customers.


Your key responsibilities and accountabilities would include:

-Utilize leadership skills and motivational techniques leading a team of application and infrastructure engineers in delivering innovative solutions to address issue, problem, configuration, vulnerability management, and efficient maintenance activities.

-Foster an engaging environment that aides in the transformation of the way we work, extend Agile, and transform the team into an effective and efficient DevOps model.

-Identifies staffing needs, performance assessments and ensures that staff is knowledgeable and cross-trained in the responsibilities of the team.

-Monitor the team’s overall service and productivity; identify and implement strategies to increase service delivery for team responsibility areas and establish metrics to measure performance against commitments.

-Continually seeks and implements improvements that reduce cycle time, improve productivity, increase availability and reduce overall costs.

-Understanding how our web hosting services and enterprise databases are used to meet the needs of our business and research customers.

-Understanding of web technologies (Microsoft IIS, Drupal, and SharePoint) and enterprise database solutions (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL).

-Understanding of the systems management requirements and support needed for Oracle Fusion and Oracle PeopleSoft solutions.

-Implement and manage capabilities for monitoring the services we provide and alerting when action is required.

-Manage off-hours and on-call support of production processing

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8 years' experience, or Master’s degree and 6 years' experience

-At least 4 years as a manager in an information technology area

Preferred Qualifications

-Application management experience in on/off-premise environments.

-Operating system and hardware platform knowledge

-Understanding of DevOps and continuous integration and application deployment knowledge desired.

-Demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and priorities

-Outstanding communications (written & verbal), interpersonal skills, and presentation skills including the ability to effectively communicate with senior management and technical leadership.

-Demonstrated experience with outstanding customer management and service skills, excellent team collaboration and motivation.

-Customer service oriented and approachable
