Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a Senior HPC Systems Engineer to join our highly skilled team located in Richland and Seattle, Washington. Our team manages HPC systems in the Top 500 list and explores and deploys a number of new architectures (GPU, FGPA, etc.) in support of research projects crossing multiple research domains including Energy, Environment, National Security and the Computational and Physical Sciences. The team works hand in hand with research projects to optimize code, choose appropriate platforms, and manage scientific workflow. Research Computing supports scientific inquiry and advances scientific discovery by providing scientists and engineers across PNNL with the resources required to accelerate their research. This includes large-scale compute and storage resources such as high-performance computing capabilities and machine learning platforms, public and private cloud architectures, on-ramps to leadership class computing architectures, and a suite of software and collaboration platforms. We provide services, expertise and support to enable effective use of our computational resources.
• 7+ years of Linux administration
• 3+ years of HPC administration
• 3+ years of experience in a Lustre environment
• Highly proficient in scripting languages (BASH, Python, Perl, etc).
• Expert in the standard “configure/make/make install” tasks
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 5 years' experience or MS degree and 3 years' experience
• Demonstrated ability to innovatively solve technical challenges in a variety of languages include C, C++, Fortran
• Proficient in parallel programing frameworks including MPI, OpenMP, and PGAS type models.
• Familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensoFlow
• The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is an advantage but not required.
