Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber sophomore, junior or senior high school students for intern assignments within the High School Young Women in Science (YWiS) Program. This summer internship is a research-based educational experience for sophomores, juniors and senior females. The students must have an expressed interest in and potential for educational opportunities and careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
This project orbits around developing novel instrumentation to address current DOE BER challenges in the general area of bioimaging. The intern will aid in data analysis (complex multi-dimensional multi-modal chemical images) and simulations (computer-based using NWCHEM).

Applicants must be a female currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a public or private high school.
Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 2019.
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).
Relevant Course Work - General Mathematics couses (high school level), general Chemistry courses (high school level), general Physics courses (high school level)
Computer Skills Desired - Windows and iOS required, UNIX desired
Other Desired Skills - Hard working and positive thinking
