Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber junior or senior high school students for intern assignments within the High School Student Business Intern (HS SBI) program. This internship provides an opportunity for high school students interested in business careers to work during the academic year with a mentor in a specified business area. Students attend regular classes in their school for half a day and work up to four hours a day, five days each week at the Laboratory.

The student will work with business administration to support the Reactor Materials and Mechanical Design group at PNNL. The student must possess strong organization and communication skills. This position is for 15-20 hours a week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a public or private high school.

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 2019.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant Course Work - Course work showing an interest in business administration and high academic achievement

Computer Skills - Proficiency in using Windows, Microsoft Office programs (including Outlook and Excel), ability to efficiently type and use basic computer programs, and the ability to learn to use business-related computer programs

Other Desired Skills - Organization and efficiency, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a group, ability to learn quickly, and positive and outgoing personality
