Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber junior or senior high school students for intern assignments within the High School Student Business Intern (HS SBI) program. This internship provides an opportunity for high school students interested in business careers to work during the academic year with a mentor in a specified business area. Students attend regular classes in their school for half a day and work up to four hours a day, five days each week at the Laboratory.

Administrative support to the Energy Processes and Materials Division. The student will provide back up support to the division administrator and other administrative staff as needed; and assist with work over-flow or special projects as needed. They will coordinate and format agendas, correspondence and reports, including submission to Information Release system, support the preparation and implementation of records and files, and make purchases using B2B.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a public or private high school.

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age by June 2019.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant Course Work - Business, leadership, and technology

Computer Skills - Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of standard office equipment and proficient use of MS Office Suite

Other Desired Skills - Must understand office support functions and possess the ability to apply procedures, work independently, and effectively direct workflow of others as appropriate. Must be able to use discretion and good judgement, independently make decisions, and positively interact with a wide-variety of PNNL staff and clients of all levels.
