Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber junior or senior high school students for intern assignment within the High School Student Research Intern (HS SRI) Program. This internship provides an opportunity for students interested in preparing for careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM - or Computer Science) to work during the academic year with a scientist/mentor in a specified research area. Students attend regular classes in their school for one-half day.
Student will provide X-ray tomography user support, x-ray imaging and data processing, 3D visualization and microstructural studies using various computer software.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior in a public or private high school.
Applicants must be 18 years of age by October 2018.
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).
Relevant Course Work Desired: Math, Science, maybe Chemistry and Biology
Computer Skills Desired: Good computer skills, knowledge of Windows systems. Ability to learn to use new software. Any scripting/coding experience is a plus
Other Desired Skills: Interest in interdisciplinary scientific work. Ability to work independently, good time management.
