The Facilities & Infrastructure Strategic Planner position, as part of the Campus Planning group, plays a key role at PNNL. The F&I Strategic Planner must understand the scientific vision, assess the current state of the land, facilities and infrastructure, determine the gaps, incorporate the alignment with PNNL’s Core Capabilities and develop an investment strategy consistent with the Annual Lab Plan, Campus Master Plan and Integraged Core Capabilities.
This position requires a solid understanding of various types of research and laboratory needs related to facilities and infrastructure.
This position will support ensuring the consistency of PNNL's near- and long-term site, facility, and infrastructure strategic planning in terms of their current state, future demand, and recommended actions to address capability gaps. Ensures the integration of maintenance, operation and planning of facilities and infrastructure through the integration of strategic planning and budget proposal processes. Provides strategic direction in the utilization and addition or removal of facilities and infrastructure to optimize current and future facility investments. Formulates, recommends, and ensures compliance with approved standards and policies relating to office and laboratory spaces and furnishings.
This position may serve as a back up and eventual replacement of the DOE FIMS administrator.
This position will back up and possibly take on Lease administration for all on-site and off-site locations.
Interface with all R&D and M&O groups, divisions and directorates within PNNL and provide critical planning support.
Able to manage processes while engaging senior level staff and management.
Able to consider risks and ensure compliance with procedures and policies
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively on diverse teams.
Skilled at building positive relationships and influence to get results.
Ability to foster creative solutions to complicated facility and infrastructure needs.
General knowledge of facility & operations processes, subcontracting, and financial systems.
Computer savvy including Microsoft Office and the use of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables.
Creative and assertive in forming solutions to problems
Strong sense of customer service
Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant work experience
Advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
Professional license and/or certification
Engineering degree or related field
Strong understaning of facility systems and infrastructure
Understanding of research proposal process
