Job Description :

  • Service in aircraft operations functions must be qualified through training, experience and expertise and have a full understanding of flight operations and/or aircraft mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Responsible for safe operations of manned and/or unmanned aircraft operations.

  • Maintains an awareness of existing and planned changes in the operational risk profile of assigned envelope.

  • Maintains situational awareness of both operational needs and emerging regulatory requirements, providing analysis of options and recommendations to mitigate exposure to operational risk and reduce the frequency of operational upset conditions.

  • Coordinates operations and preforms duties within the DOE and appropriate regulatory agencies requirements

Discipline, principal job duties/expectations, and qualitative and quantitative measures of performance that exceed the Functional Descriptor:

  • Set up maintenance and support equipment required to maintain a Challenger 850 modified for research

  • Travel 3-4 months per year (not consecutive) domestic and international. Must hold current passport.

  • Oversee complex internal and external scientific payload integration, installation, and removal.

  • Work with science team to plan and calculate weight and balance associated with installing & removing research payloads

  • Work with Group 3 UAS (training provided)

Minimum Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate, with current Inspector Authorization (IA)

  • Bachelor’s degree (science preferred) and 10+ years of relevant experience. Advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or TIG/AA with 15+ years of relevant experience.

  • Certified training on GE CF34 engines

  • Certified training on Honeywell 36-150RJ Series APU

  • 5 years broad experience maintaining Challenger 850 or CRJ-200 aircraft

  • Oversee tool control program & tool calibration program

  • Oversee/supervise heavy maintenance during shop visits

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; stand up to 8 hours per day; bend, stretch, crawl, and climb ladders in order to work on areas within the aircraft that are difficult to access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience as Director of Maintenance

  • Experienced with sheet metal & fabrication

  • Experienced with computerized maintenance programs such as Flightdocs

  • Strong computer skills (outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, etc.)

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of Proline4 Avionics suite

  • Drug Testing: This position is considered a Testing Designated Position which means that they are subject to applicant, random, and for cause drug testing.

  • Aircraft is a highly modified Public Aircraft used for atmospheric research
