The Opportunity
Help develop intranet sites that serve the internal communications, transparency, and documentation needs of PNNL’s science and technology (S&T) and Mission Support groups as part of the Communications and Publications Division! As a communications intern, you’ll join a talented, diverse team and work to establish, populate, and socialize SharePoint-driven internal websites (“intranet sites”). You’ll be mentored by communications leaders as you develop site maps, preliminary designs, and content.
What you’ll do:
Learn the value of and collaborate with the specialized teams in the division—S&T Communications, Internal Communications, Creative Services, Content and Quality, and News and Media—and lean on the skills and professional support of others to complete projects as per the standard workflow.
Learn how to use a workflow and job management system.
Learn about the process and importance of setting up a well-functioning SharePoint-driven internal website for PNNL’s groups
Team with leaders in Internal Communications and S&T Communications to develop a project timeline,draft a site map, and write content for various websites as identified by the intranet manager.
Team with Creative Services to deliver mock-up designs and coordinate graphic elements for the intranet sites.
Participate in client showcase meetings to socialize drafts of each site, provide status updates, and collect client feedback from leadership.
Interact, communicate, and problem solve with a diverse team of communicators within the Communications and Publications Division and across PNNL.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall GPA of 2.5.
Preferred Qualifications
If you’re a junior or senior-level college student with a major in communications, computer science, or a related major that has led to an advanced proficiency in SharePoint and you have great skills in writing and editing, we want to connect with you! Interest in the field of communications
Communications-related college major or area of focus; “Rising Junior,” “Rising Senior,” or 2021 graduate status
Training and advanced aptitude in SharePoint
Strong written and verbal communications skills
