Job Description

  • This Building Engineer position is responsible for activities in support of an assigned Core Team under the guidance of the South Facility Engineering & Maintenance Manager. The Building Engineer is the subject matter expert for their assigned buildings and systems responsible for design modifications, providing system diagnostics, system operation oversight, lock-out/tag-out, surveillance/testing, condition assessment surveys, acceptance testing, work planning, outage planning and configuration management. Responsible for facility preventive maintenance program requirements and implementation to ensure facilities systems and component reliability. Determine requirements for facility spare parts inventories in support of facility capabilities. Supports development of annual and out year facility operation and maintenance budgets. Responsible for efficient operation of facility systems to meet environmental, safety and occupant mission needs.

  • The Building Engineer provides day-to-day direction to utility operations staff (power operators) and building technicians.

  • The Building Engineer responds to facility upset conditions and events that impact their assigned facilities during normal and off normal work hours.

  • The Building Engineer must have good judgment, positive attitude, and work well within their assigned Core Team to meet their building occupant’s needs.

The hiring level will be determined based on education, experience and skill set of the successful candidate based on the following:

Level III: Develops solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Identifies improvement and efficiency opportunities in area where assigned as Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Level IV: Demonstrates leadership by translating strategy into specific goals and objectives. Works on complex problems and provides solutions that are innovative. Identifies improvement/efficiency opportunities both within and outside of area where assigned as Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering degree and 8+ years of relevant experience

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington

  • Certification as a Reliability Engineer

  • Knowledge with the use of the following software:

  • Maximo

  • AutoCAD

  • REVIT

  • JCI Metasys

  • U.S. citizenship
