Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high caliber candidates for assignments within the National Security Internship Program (NSIP).
The world is rapidly changing. Ideas once thought to be “science fiction” are becoming reality. As quickly as nations solve problems, new challenges emerge. In this atmosphere of momentous change, PNNL’s NSIP program is identifying and developing talented individuals for exciting assignments of the future. Positions are available in the Systems Engineering & Integration (SEI) Division. SEI projects and initiatives span data analysis and technology deployment on both large and small scales. Focus areas include:
-Arms Control /Nonproliferation
-International and Domestic Safeguards
-Nuclear and Global Security
-Critical Infrastructure Protection
-Urban Water Security
PNNL is seeking recent graduates focused in disciplines that contribute to the aforementioned fields. Inter alia, of particular interest are students that have a technical background combined with other multidisciplinary interest and experience. The specific objective of this internship is to attract and develop talented, creative researchers who will augment the Laboratory's capabilities in key technical areas that can be utilized in solving global challenges in nuclear nonproliferation and safeguards.
The prospective candidate’s course of study should be focused in disciplines described above. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply for NSIP assignments.
These positions will be located in Seattle or Richland, WA as dictated by focus area and business need.

Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.3 required.
Candidates must have the ability to obtain a future security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
•Software development for numerical modeling
•Statistical methods and approaches, data interpretation and numerical simulations
•Water systems and/or critical infrastructure interdependency analysis.
•Quantitative and economic analysis
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Engineering (all types related to the disciplines above), Software Engineering or/Design, Public Policy, Nonproliferation, Economics, Security Studies, Applied Physics, Cyber Security, Information Management, Hydrology, Urban Water Security, Infrastructure Sustainability and Resilience.
