Job Description

The Computational and Statistical Analytics Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory focuses on advancing computational and statistical foundations to deliver algorithms, information and scientific data management, visualization and analytics, data intensive information systems, distributed data processing pipelines and environments, and secure computing infrastructure to enable next-generation heterogeneous computing for scientific discovery, situational awareness, decision support, and predictive modeling.

This internship with the Software Engineering and Architectures team will offer candidates the opportunity to explore engineering and technology career options and gain practical training in computer science and engineering. Software engineering activities will be conducted in close collaboration and under the guidance of PNNL scientists and engineers, and will include one or more of the applied disciplines above.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Bachelor’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required.

U.S. citizenship required.


Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with experience in one or more of these areas, or closely related topics, are encouraged to apply:

- software engineering practices

- embedded systems or hardware programming

- mobile development

- data technologies (Hadoop, SQL Server, Scala)

- software testing techniques and tools

- Java, C/C++, C#, Python

- Frameworks (.NET, JavaScript, Angular, Python, etc.)

Additionally, candidates with any skills or experience in statistical packages, server maintenance, or algorithm development.

Preferred Education - Computer Science, Electrical Engineering. GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred.
