Job Description

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber PhD students for assignments within the Safeguards Internship Program (SIP), funded by the National Nuclear Security Administration. Our project work focus on nuclear safeguards and improving international capabilities to deter, detect, and interdict nuclear weapons or illicit technology. The candidate will work side-by-side with top leaders in the nonproliferation community to support technologies and policies to help U.S. allies develop the infrastructure to thwart nuclear terrorism. Location of the assignment could be in our Richland, WA or Seattle, WA office.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must be currently enrolled/matriculated in a PhD program at an accredited college. Minimum GPA of 3.25 is required. Recommend including a letter of interest.

Applicants must have the ability to obtain a future security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.


Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with experience in one or more of these disciplines or closely related topics are encouraged to apply: Applied Health Physics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Nuclear Physics, Applied Statistics and Accounting, Cyber Security, Information Management and Analysis, International Relations, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other Engineering Fields, Radiochemistry, Security Studies.
