Job Description

You are a passionate and talented user experience practitioner that has proven yourself as a creative professional and an advocate of user centered design. You are addicted to defining user requirements and use cases that drive your design decisions. You have examples of how your visual, interactive design and art direction has made an impact in commercial or research-driven products, demonstrable through the beginnings of a great portfolio. You can demonstrate creative thinking, strong visual design, software interaction design, user research and the ability to quickly conceptualize through sketch with pen and pencil when needed.

You have burgeoning sponsor relationship skills and can create compelling vision documents and proposals. You are entrepreneurial and not afraid to take on hard, complex user experience challenges. At PNNL, you can define your future by choosing – and creating – the opportunities you work on. To succeed, you are proactive about seeking out new opportunities and opening doors. You are passionate about research and have begun to develop a publishing record in HCI or User Experience. You can get technical with the best of them and can communicate effectively with developers, program managers and testers to gain their support for your ideas. You have a versatile communications style – you can communicate with sponsors, scientists and geeks alike.

You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and different subject domains, and where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point. As a member of our user experience team, you will use great design as a tool to help solve some of the nation’s most pressing challenges in security, energy independence, and environmental science.
