PNNL is seeking to hire a technical expert with strong credentials in computer science/electrical engineering, cyber security, and industrial control systems. The incumbent will have a unique opportunity to be part of growing team focused on challenges that range from basic science to technology insertion.
PNNL is committed to researching and developing new technologies and methodologies to better protect critical infrastructures from cyber-attacks. The environment is highly challenging and complex. This senior level position will develop technical solutions for client needs including: information assurance, intrusion prevention, systems & vulnerabilities, and information system security.
The Senior Control Systems Researcher will support internally and sponsor funded cyber security research projects in developing solutions for a variety of cyber, network, and host security problems related to SCADA/ICS systems. These are complex problems that must be solved through creativity, effective design, decomposition, and implementation on a variety of projects. Examples include assessing and evaluating various control systems, working with commercial and open source security tools to meet the needs of current and next generation defensive technologies, or writing technical report documents of cyber security approaches. Programming and scripting tasks should be expected as well. The incumbent will be expected to lead critical tasks and projects and provide technical expertise for the project team.
Must have in-depth knowledge of Industrial Control Systems / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (ICS/SCADA) hardware (server level and embedded), software, processes, protocols, and industry implementations. Extensive experience with software engineering, quality assurance, networking protocols with both IT and OT, as well as industrial control systems security, is strongly preferred.
Expertise of cyber security standards and guidance is highly desirable such as NIST, DOE, ISO/IEC, IEEE, NERC, etc.
Cyber security and/or ICS certifications are highly desirable such as CISSP, GICSP, CISM, CEH, ISA, etc.
Requires BS degree and at least 9 years’ experience, MS degree and at least 7 years’ experience.
PhD with at least 4 years’ experience. Degree should be in computer science, electrical engineering or related field.
Preference will be given to candidates that maintain a current security clearance.
