Job Description

The Chemical Physics and Analysis Group at PNNL seeks candidates for a research scientist to develop novel instrumentation for molecular imaging of chemical and biological systems. Specifically, we are developing a multimodal imaging platform that will enable dynamic imaging of complex systems by combining electrochemical and optical microscopy with mass spectrometry. This platform will be used for imaging multiple metabolic pathways in living cells and tissues with subcellular resolution and for fundamental studies of processes occurring at electrode-electrolyte interfaces relevant to heterogeneous electrocatalysis and energy storage. The successful candidate will have a track record for interdisciplinary research and demonstrated expertise in electrochemistry, mass spectrometry, device fabrication, and surface characterization using spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree with 0-2 years experience or a PhD.

•Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise. Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

•PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering with 3 years’ experience.

•Preference will be given to those with expertise in electrochemistry and instrument development.

•Demonstrated ability to independently execute R&D programs as evidenced by publication record.
