Job Description

The research associate will support field and laboratory investigations focused on hydrology, biogeochemistry, and ecology of the hyporheic zone, riparian zone, and other nearshore environments within a river corridor ecosystem. Tasks will include installation and maintenance of field instruments, field sample and data collection, design and implementation of field and laboratory experiments, laboratory-based analysis of aqueous and gaseous biogeochemical parameters, scripting-based data analysis, and contribution to peer-review publications. Some molecular work (e.g., DNA extraction) may also be needed. This position will involve significant field, laboratory, and computer-based work. The majority of field work will take place along an 80km stretch of the Columbia River, immediately upstream from the PNNL campus. Laboratory work will take place on the PNNL campus.
