Job Description

The Electric Infrastructure (EI) group at Pacific Northwest National Lab seeks a post-master to conduct research projects in the following areas:

•Prepare large-scale power system models, parameters and scenario data.

•Perform static power flow analysis and dynamic simulations for specific large-scale test systems using commercial software packages, e.g., PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, DSA Tools (PSAT, TSAT).

•Develop scripts (Python/Matlab/C++/EPCL) to automate large-scale power system simulations and process the simulation results

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate must have a solid background in power system modeling and simulation, including power flow and transient stability. The candidate must be familiar with commercial power system simulation software PSS/E, PSLF, and PowerWorld, and programming languages e.g. Python/Matlab/C++/Java, etc. Experience with data processing and analytics using Excel/Matlab/Python/R is preferred.
