Job Description

A postdoctoral researcher is needed in the Catalysis Science Group for experimental research in the development of artificial metalloenzymes for energy related transformations. Experience in fundamental research involving expression, purification, and modification of enzymes is necessary. The research involves design, synthesis and characterization of hybrid metalloenzymes, and structural, electrochemical, and mechanistic studies, leading to new understanding of how enzymes function.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in expression, purification, and modification of proteins is required. Experience in synthetic and mechanistic organometallic/inorganic chemistry and handling air-sensitive materials is desirable. Experience in electrochemistry of enzymes and/or computational chemistry is also desirable. Excellent oral and written communications skills are mandatory. Proficiency with a range of spectroscopic techniques, particularly NMR, is essential. Must have the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

The perfect candidates would have these 3 characteristics:

Expertise in protein expression, purification and modification

Experience in NMR, enzyme kinetics, x-ray crystallography of enzymes

Independent and highly motivated

PhD in Biochemistry or Bioinorganic Chemistry
